Ranelagh Road

We have proposed to completely revolutionise the dwelling by creating a contemporary family home.

To the front elevation, we have proposed to remove the existing out of keeping square bay windows, and introduce new double height angled bay windows. In addition, we have proposed to remove the existing low quality roof tiles and re-cover in slate, and also introduced a large picture window to the office and new render to cover the low quality brickwork. Along with these changes, we have introduced a new boundary wall and railings – all of which we believe will make a strong addition to the street-scene.

To the rear, we have proposed to cover the existing low quality brickwork in a new white coloured render. For the front elevation we were more sympathetic to the conservation area and proposed something more in keeping to the street-scene, but to the rear we wanted to do something more contemporary and something fun! We have proposed a Juliet balcony to the first floor, which allows more light into the large master bedroom. To the ground floor, we have designed a large pivot door which will open and create much-needed airflow & light to the kitchen, and then we have proposed an oriel window to the rear dining/informal reading room which cantilevers out and allows you to sit inside the window, which is a really beautiful addition that we cannot wait to see built! We have also proposed zinc to the top half section of the extension which will match the dark grey aluminium window frames.

Really happy with this one – would love to know your thoughts!
